Privacy Policy - Kumquat
Track Smarter, Spend Better
Last updated: November 22, 2025
Information We Collect
Kumquat collects and stores the following information that you provide: Transaction details (amount, date, category, payment method), notes you add to transactions, budget settings, app preferences and settings, and streak and usage data for habit tracking. All of this information is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced via iCloud to your other devices.
Data Usage
Your financial data is used exclusively to provide the Kumquat service—tracking your expenses, displaying spending insights, generating weekly summaries, and syncing across your devices. We do not analyze your spending for advertising purposes, share your data with third parties, or use your data for any purpose other than app functionality.
Local Storage and iCloud
All your data is stored locally on your device using Core Data. If you have iCloud enabled, your data syncs across your Apple devices using CloudKit. Important: We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's CloudKit architecture ensures that your synced information is encrypted and accessible only to you through your Apple ID.
No Third-Party Tracking
Kumquat does not include analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.), advertising networks, crash reporting services that transmit data externally, or any third-party code that collects your data. Your data never leaves your device except for iCloud sync to your own devices.
Notifications
Kumquat may send local notifications for the Week Wrap-Up feature (weekly spending summaries). These notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not transmit any data externally. You can disable notifications at any time in the app settings or iOS Settings.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device and iCloud account until you choose to delete it. You can delete individual transactions within the app or remove all data by deleting the app. If you use iCloud sync, deleting the app will not remove data from iCloud. To fully delete iCloud data, go to iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Kumquat.
Children's Privacy
Kumquat does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is intended for general audiences managing personal finances.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Kumquat is designed with privacy as a core principle: All data stored locally on your device, iCloud sync only to your own devices, no third-party tracking or analytics, no advertising, no external servers. Your financial data is yours alone.
